Kaga Toyomasa (Kaga Masako) was born June 17, 1938 in Sapporo. She studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Nitta Samiji and Sanagi Okatoyo and started teaching in 1952. During a career spanning more than 40 years, she won the Individual Excellence Award at the Hokkaido Sankyoku Competition in 1967 and was a councillor of the Kin’yū-kai.
