Kamijo Taeko entered the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music in 1977. In 1981, she entered the graduate school there becoming a member of the Miyagi Koto Ensemble. Having completed her master's thesis "Research on Matsuura Kengyo," she began her professional performing career with appearances in" Aoki Reibo Shakuhachi Recital" that toured in ten cities in the US. In 1984, she presented her first recital and has done five more between then. In 1991, she formed the group "Izumi no Kai" along with Hiroko Obatake and Fumishi Yamamoto and has produced seven concerts between that year and 1998 in her home town of Kokubunji. Kamijo is currently a lecturer at Tokyo University of the Fine Arts and Music.
